As the first film, The Texas Killing Fields is complete (except for a couple of continuity errors straight-forward), but Ami Canaan Mann likely will suffer from comparison with his father. The first film did little to prevent this, Michael's father appearing in the press conference in his role as producer of the film.

Oddly, for a film its title from a place - a strip of desert along the I-45, where more than fifty bodies were thrown from the late sixties - Killing Fields in Texas, has very little meaning the place. The film's characters are constantly telling you how bad the Killing Fields are (a technician refers to them as infected), but this just is not coming, they just look plain, sterile drapes.

Ami Canaan Mann (daughter of Michael Mann) Field debut film Murder in Texas (2011) is a run-of-the-mill police procedural, which has really no place in this year's Festival Venice Film. Souders Detective (Sam Worthington) and Hi (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is investigating a series of kidnappings and murders of young women. The old policeman was seized by an almost religious sense of mission while Souders for all its in-your-face attitude, fights shy of slipping out of their jurisdiction.

Ani Canaan's second feature, The Killing Fields of Texas, had little to long distance of the display, and recorded a slightly different incarnations, from the participation of other behind-the-camera talent (ie, Danny Boyle) is shorter, softer title Fields. But the film shows in competition with Venice, appears to be smooth sailing from here on. In spite of a fairly standard crime story true, there is something in Texas Killing Fields, who has kept me fascinated for many months.

Maybe it's that movie actors are almost deadly good because it includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Sam Worthington, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jessica Chastain, Stephen Graham, Jason Clarke, Annabeth Gish and. It should be.

Texas Killing Fields: Venice Film Review

This police procedural has grown dominated by adult programs throughout the world in recent years, and even though Stuart Dryburgh 35mm film The Killing Fields is the most prestigious theaters in Texas, the overall consumption of the area long ago familiar with the CIS and its many variants and offshoots. A bit 'generous, effective competition section of Venice, was designed only for a U.S. release in early October. Despite the presence of some of the biggest names at the top of the cast as it is currently around Jessica Chastain, drama evenly pace seems more like a small screen to the proposal.

Texas Killing Fields: Venice Film Review

While the film's characters and stories are fictional, they are, opening titles dutifully informed us, "Inspired by real events." The Killing Fields is truly a place where the bodies were dumped in more than 40 years, although they are generally accepted to be the work of different killers. Clearly, there is rich material for a big screen treatment, but Mann and Ferrarone error by devoting so much screen time to a potential victim.

At school age, Ann (Chloë Grace Moretz) lives with her drug-addicted mother Lucy (Sheryl Lee) in a shady oceanfront cottage, a very dangerous and inappropriate for an innocent man, an intelligent child who, like Mike and Brian do deserve a better future possibility.

Ann is repeatedly placed in unsafe situations, more than ever a real thriller, quite realized. Mann, Brian and Mike scans the patient, sometimes off - the rules of detective work, and sometimes violent, heavy action series, it has raised, in particular the effective use of propulsive, sometimes a little ' Claire Denis' Score eccentric member Dickon Hinchliffe. For more information about the musical form of folk-rock flavored with South Americans to help improve the atmosphere of the project, as a man in a rival Venice Killer Joe, was shot entirely in Louisiana, scout Jimmy Trotter to dig up some embryonic Marsh appropriately spooky.

But despite the wealth of background details as Texas death camps falls desperately short in terms of plot development and characterization. Texas City. Inspired by real events - Detective Mike sonar, a controversial issue in Texas, and his partner Brian Hey, a transplant from New York, called by Mike Stall's ex-wife detective Pam, to help the work, it is about a if the girl is found abandoned vehicle in the Killing Fields. The Killing Fields is a piece of Haunted Bayou and the coastal plain. The bodies of some 60 murder victims, mostly young women, have been found. When they work, and two sets of dangerous suspects and victims emerge, a street kid took Brian under his wing, Little Anne, the girl next door removed, the design of Mike, Brian and Pam deep into the Killing Fields on a mission to his rescue.

n Texas City, Texas, Detective Mike Souders (Sam Worthington) and his partner, Brian Hi (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), are called to investigate the murder of an unidentified girl teen. On their way back to the station from the scene, they give a ride to Little Anne (Chloe Grace Moretz, "Kick Ass"), a young local criminal so skanky mother of Lucy (Sheryl Lee) is launching a regular night out for Anne she can entertain her "boyfriend" that Rhino local oil refinery worker (Stephen Graham).

Almost simultaneously, welding ex-wife, Pam (Jessica Chastain, easily Best in Show), a detective in the next county, asks for his help in the case of another missing woman, Lila. Your body is more likely that somewhere in the swamps of Bayou desolate known locally as the battlefields where many bodies were found in recent years. Hey, obsessed with the murder of the death camp, wants to help, but welding, fearful of being close to her ex, prefers to keep the business they already have, which seems to involve a couple of local pimps (Jason Clarke and Jon Eyez ).

It 'pretty obvious when the PIC mentions that although the local Native Americans avoided the Killing Fields back in their day. But why, one wonders? It was the old mound is there or what? Script does not offer an explanation, since it does not shed light on how Souder always know, as if by magic, exactly where Heigh is when you're in a fight and she needs rescuing.

That said, there are parts of the film that work well as a brief but credible scene where the detective to ask for some information about African-Americans and their protectors, clocked jokes, or at least what you feel is the truth ring. The pursuit of the above is also designed with style and choreography, in fact, is good enough to make mistakes the rest seem even more aggravating. On his way to the station from the scene of the crime, give a lift to Little Anne (Chloe Grace Moretz, "Kick-Ass"), a local teenager whose mother skanky criminal Lucy (Sheryl Lee) Anne regularly launches at night to can entertain her "boyfriend" as Rhino local oil refinery worker (Stephen Graham).

Around the same time, Souder ex-wife, Pam (Jessica Chastain, easily the Best in Show), looking for neighbors, county, ask for their help in another case, the missing woman, Lila. His body is likely that some deserted swamps of Bayou locally known as The Killing Fields, where many bodies have done over the years. Height, obsessed with death camps to murder, wants to help, but Souder, is suspicious about his ex, they prefer to follow if they have already, which seems to involve him in a couple of local pimps (Jason Clarke and Jon eyez).

It's corny enough when the picture says that even the local Native Americans rejected the death camps once again. But why, one wonders? There was an ancient burial mound or something else? The scenario provides no explanation, just as there can clarify what Souder always know, as if by magic, exactly where you are Hey, when you are about to get into a fight and rescue needs.

That said, there are pieces of film work as well as a short scene, but the credibility of the detectives to ask some African Americans with information about the pimps, and its song jokes, or at least you can hear He has the ring of truth. The aforementioned car chase is very well choreographed and executed, in fact, good enough to make the holes also seem even more aggravating. A shock ellipse - in one scene, Anne is followed by one of the pimps, and the next dinner at home saw Eh - suggests that something has gone wrong in the editing room.

This cop procedural grew to dominate the world of adult-oriented television in recent years, and while studies Stuart Dryburgh 35mm film in Texas Killing Fields is best appreciated in the halls, the tread has long been familiar total with CSI and its many variants and spurs. A movie just OK second feature of Ami Canaan Mann - daughter of Michael Mann, one of two producers credited here - and the latest release of Avatar and the clash of titans "Sam Worthington, the film will probably gain exposure much more than the previous day with a indie that has made little impact a decade ago.

A little more generously included in the main competition in Venice, which is scheduled for limited national release in early October. Although there are some notable names in the top of the distribution, including Jessica Chastain time everywhere, the drama steadily at a rate more like a proposal from the small screen.
Script by Donald F. Ferraroni 's chopped follow a long tradition in the following two corresponding members, because they go to their work of Brian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is a rough, husky, religiously devout, New Yorker, a father who has moved to South Texas, after one of his cases went wrong. Still adjusting to the new environment, which will be directed through the streets of the world, local young Mike (Worthington), a younger man is not very far from a colleague Pam (Chastain). Brian and Mike investigates the murder of a prostitute, and the disappearance of another young woman, leading them to limit their patch of wetlands along infamous, mysterious region known as the "Killing Fields".

While the movie's characters and stories are fictional, they are, as opening titles dutifully informs us, "inspired by real events." The Killing Fields is a real area where the bodies have been exported to more than 40 years, although these are generally considered the work of several killers. This is clearly a wealth of material here in a great care, but Ferraroni and Mann, head to err so much screen time to a potential victim.

But despite the wealth of contextual detail such, Texas Killing Fields frustrating not live up to in terms of plot development and characterization. Worthington, Morgan Chastain and provides further evidence that they are essentially character-movie star players rather than rising, while the British scene stealing Stephen Graham is given disappointingly little to chew on a touch sinister. Small Moretz However, once again proves that his shoulders falsely Slim can handle all sorts of heavy lifting.

That said, there are clips from the film, which works well as a brief but credible scene, where detectives ask some African Americans to obtain information about the pimps and their playful banter, or at least what we can hear, a ring of credibility. The car above Chase is elegantly directed and choreographed, in fact it is good enough to make room for other errors seem even more aggravating.
